Herbal Actions & Allies
for
Blessing Our Bleeding
A Fruit of Knowledge (fok) Learning Circle
October 8th, 12-3 pm MDT
This learning circle will explore many wonderful ways that herbal actions support the physiology, psychology, & biochemistry of bleeding during menstruation, all types of pregnancy release & postpartum periods.
Plant medicine can resource our bodies nutritionally, sooth the nervous system & psyche, contract, relax, tone, & stimulate uterine tissues & more!
Upon a foundational understanding of the commonality of all types of womb bleeding, whether in menstruation or pregnancy release, we will build practical working definitions of broad categories of herbal actions that nurture the full womb continuum including but not limited to:
emmenagogues
nutritives
nervines
analgesics
antispasmodics
styptics
uterine tonics
uterine relaxers & contractors
oxytocics
Brief examples of a few specific plants will be given within each category, offering insight into options for application & active constituents.
A more in depth exploration of a few of my favorite allies for blessing our bleeding will be given after we have moved through the broad categories. Ethnobotany, mythology, psycho-spirituality, Latin names, chemical constituents, harvest, preparation, & anecdotes will accompany these in depth profiles.
Anecdotes may offer examples of specific application, timing, & dosages, however, rather than specific formulas or protocols this learning circle will prioritize giving participants an understanding of broad categories of types of plant medicines & a basic working knowledge of how, why, & when they can be supportive of womb bleeding experiences throughout the continuum.
